When we moved into our house just over 2 years ago, everything was pretty standard. Most of the finishes were builder grade, so it allowed us to put our own touch on things. Troy and I are NOT handy people, so it took some time finding the right people to do the jobs we needed. Even if they were as simple as changing a faucet out, lol!
I found Build.com while doing my usual browsing of home improvements and interior design on Instagram. You can find the best inspiration on there! I was immediately drawn to the bright and modern style of Build.com. I also saw that they are based out of Chico, CA, which is super close to where I am from in Northern California! Such a random connection, and I love anything that makes me feel nostalgic about home.
Shape Mags with Say
I was recently introduced to the coolest toy and had to share with you. The company is Shapemags, and they make magnetic tiles in different shapes and colors. These toys allow creativity while making learning fun. I also love that it is something any age can play with and learn something…whether it is colors and shapes, or using their imagination more to see what they can build!
Our set of Shapemags came in a nice box, all organized and ready to play with. Saylor started playing with them immediately, and we currently have 3 different piles of her projects around the house. I had no idea she would be so into building things! Her set also came with a set of stilemags, which connect to the face of the tiles and are so fun! They come in numbers and letters, as well as images to use while building your creations!
Christmas Traditions & Remembering Christ
I can’t believe Christmas is almost here! When you become a parent, it seems like holidays and such really sneak up on you. As Saylor is getting older, she is 4.5 now, I am realizing the importance of teaching her the true meaning of Christmas…that it isn’t just about Santa and getting gifts. (which as a 4 year old is honestly the best part!)
I was recently introduced to THIS website that focuses on Christmas traditions that are centered around Christ. They create crafts and things to do each night as family to remember Christ. THIS 25 Days of Christ set prompts you and your family to gather each night in December and focus on one part of the life of Jesus. It comes with a small ornament for each day to be a symbol of a story.
Afternoon Fun!
{Thank you Jane for sponsoring this post!}
Have you guys heard of jane.com? It is a daily deal site where you can score some really awesome things for such a good price! I’ve been a customer for years, and I’m excited to share what I love about them with you. Jane offers daily deals that run for only 72 hours and can be up to 80% off. I love that they continuously have new products and if you snooze, you lose! I have purchased all sorts of things from them…clothing, stuff for Saylor, bath and home items…you name it, they probably carry it or will at some point. Today Saylor and I spent time outside playing with these little pebble things that grow when you place them in water. I don’t even know what they are called, haha, but I’m sure you know what I am talking about.
Easy 2 Ingredient DIY Slime Recipe!
Another slime recipe! I know, I know…but it is SO popular right now, so easy, and it keeps my toddler entertained for so long. Honestly she played for almost an hour and a half by herself this afternoon after we made it. Can I get a hallelujah?! If you are a mom, you know how nice a little quiet time is. Anyways, I am going to tell you the recipe I used to make my slime, and how I will make it next time. I probably made a few “mistakes” (the slime still turned out totally fine), but next time I make it I will do a few things differently.
Benonite Clay Wonder Face Mask!
Have you guys seen the amazing 2 ingredient face mask recipe going around that is super popular right now? Well I finally decided to purchase the stuff and give it a try! I was so excited. The only two things you need are benonite clay and apple cider vinegar. I did some research and the ones that I bought have seemed to be the favorites (see bottom of post for purchasing links). This mask supposedly is great for acne, exfoliating, can help reduce the look of scars, unclogs and shrinks pores, helps draw toxins out of your skin…seriously just Google it and you will want to try it!
Purple Posie Designs
Hi! Guess what I realized today? That it’s been just over a year that I have been blogging here. I can’t believe it has been a year and I’ve had so much fun collaborating with companies and getting to know other bloggers.
Today I wanted to share with you Purple Posie Designs. They create beautiful handmade items such as keepsake journals and journal books. They are made with so much love and detail, and make a great gift. When I was younger I was into scrapbooking, and loved making things like these for different events in my life like high school graduation or Christmas one year. It is such a nice way to store and show your memories. They are very personal, and such an easy way to create and store your memories!
Easy DIY 2 Ingredient Cloud Dough!
I found something super easy to do with Saylor…and wanted to share! I’m a big fan of “art projects” that call for things I already have at home or in the pantry. That’s why this cloud dough was a no brainer! Here is the recipe I used:
4 cups flour
1/2 cup vegetable oil
optional: a few drops of essential oil for smell
All you need is a big bowl for mixing. Pour the flour in the bowl, create a crater in the middle, add the oil, and if you choose, the essential oil drops. Start mixing!
How To Make A Diaper Cake
…that isn’t that appealing to the eye, LOL! Note to self, next time I do this, make sure someone else is around to help. Having only one set of hands proved to make things difficult.
So I’m going to my girlfriends baby shower tomorrow, and last minute decided to make a diaper cake. Because, why not? I have never made one before, so I hit up Google, and went off of the tutorial found HERE. I didn’t have rubber bands at home, and didn’t feel like going to the store for them, so I planned to use twine to tie the layers together.
Easy DIY Fluffy Slime!
Are you looking for something fun to do with your kids? I have the perfect thing for you. Saylor has been into that gross fart slime lately, so I knew this was perfect for us. This video (see HERE) showed up in my FB feed and I thought it seemed totally easy to do! No weird ingredients. All you need is:
- Elmer’s Glue
- Shaving Cream
- Baking Soda
- Contact Solution
- Food Coloring (optional)
- Foaming Hand Soap (optional)
- Goo Gone
In the original video I went off of, they made a huge batch, so I cut that in half. The amount of slime that I made was perfect for 2 kids, and would have worked well for up to 4 in my opinion. All you do is:
