Easy DIY Fluffy Slime!

Are you looking for something fun to do with your kids? I have the perfect thing for you. Saylor has been into that gross fart slime lately, so I knew this was perfect for us. This video (see HERE) showed up in my FB feed and I thought it seemed totally easy to do! No weird ingredients. All you need is:

In the original video I went off of, they made a huge batch, so I cut that in half. The amount of slime that I made was perfect for 2 kids, and would have worked well for up to 4 in my opinion. All you do is:

  • In a large bowl, dump the 5 bottles of glue. Then add the baking soda. Use 1/2 t for each bottle of glue. Start stirring!

  • Add your shaving cream. Use about 1/4 C for every bottle of glue…we eyeballed this part so you don’t have to be super exact. Keep stirring and working everything together! (We had 2 bottles of shaving cream and one wasn’t foamy, so be sure that yours is nice and foamy! A nice scent doesn’t hurt either.)
  • Add your food coloring and keep stirring.
  • Add a few pumps of foamy soap. This apparently makes it more fluffy.

  • Now is the fun part. Start squirting some saline into the fluff. I thought it was easiest to do this while someone else is stirring, so you can see the consistency start to change. Keep adding until you see that it is starting to not stick to the bowl. As soon as you can touch it without it sticking to you, take it out of the bowl and work with it on the counter. Keep kneading it as using as much contact solution as you need.

That is it! So easy, right? It probably took us about 5, maybe 10 minutes. The counters and things ended up a bit sticky, so for clean up I used a damp rag with some Goo Gone, and the sticky mess cleaned right up. For some reason the slime stuck to Saylor’s shirt, so be careful with that. It rinsed right out, it was just more of an annoyance.

Have fun with it and let me know if you try it! Saylor says she wants to make slime again tomorrow, but purple! Oh, I’m storing mine in just a tupperware container. We will see how long it lasts!

  1. Omg I love this! I’ll need to try it out

  2. Did not work for me. I only did a very small batch to test, and I’m glad I did. It Turned into melted shaving cream type stuff.

Really? Weird! Maybe you didn’t use enough glue? Also, the contact solution is what really makes it come together for us!

  3. I used 4 oz of glue, 1/2 cup of shaving cream, and 1/2 tablespoon baking soda. Added plenty of contact solution gradually, but still nothing. It seemed like the more I stirred, the flatter it got. I was rinsing the bowl and it all turned into squishy little balls. Did I do something wrong? Thanks!

I think too much shaving cream and too much baking soda. Try using 1/2 teaspoon for each bottle of glue. That will probably help!

  4. Ok thanks! I will try again. 🙂

  5. Actually, I think the reason it turned very liquidy, or didn’t come together, is maybe because of your contact solution. That has happened many times to me, and it did not become fluffy and slimey. Try getting contact solution with boric acid or sodium borate. I tried slime recipes and used contact solution without those two ingredients, and it wasn’t successful. If this still doesn’t work, try using Refresh Tears eye drops. The Refresh Tears eye drops don’t have sodium borate or boric acid, but they have this long active ingredient that apparently makes that slime come together for me. Hope this helped!

  7. I want to try this so bad!!! I just have to get the ingredients 😞 I’m not even sure if my mom will let me keep it😔 My dad will though!!!!☺️☺️

  8. I made it ones it worked perfectly and the 2nd time it did not work at all but I’m using Landry detergent

  9. How long did it end up lasting? I’m a preschool teacher and I think my kids would absolutely love this.

I honestly don’t know! I didn’t look at the ingredients of the ones I have used…just basic solution.

  10. This worked out perfectly. I have already made two batches and my first one got hard in a day and as not fluffy at all but my second batch was amazing and it is so fluffy but it still has not dried out yet. My suggestions would be to do five pumps of foamy soap and make sure you use enough shaving cream. My other suggestion would be that if your glue liquid isn’t turning into slime then add more contact solution.. If your slime hardens up just add more shaving cream and mix it in good and it will become that great slime again.

      good recommendations! thank you!

  11. Worked great for us! Didn’t have fluffy shaving cream so I just sprayed a little gel shaving cream into the bottom of a 1/4 cup until it fluffed up, then added it to the mix.
If it doesn’t come together for other individuals, it probably IS the contact solution. I tried my Opti-Free Replenish with a batch and it was a fail. Bought off brand cheap contact solution with boric acid in the ingredients and it has alway worked since then.
    Thanks for the slime recipe!
