Baby Shower Gift Idea’s for the New Mom

Hi all! I am sure we have all felt the pressure of finding a great gift for a new mom. Especially if you don’t have kids, it can be hard to know what is really needed and useful. Well I am here to let you in on a few products that are a sure hit.

(this face can be deceiving LOL)

I know when I was a new mom, creating my first baby registry, I didn’t think about putting things like diaper rash creams on it. There are many choices, and I didn’t even think about my baby getting a diaper rash, nonetheless what I would even do for it! After Saylor came, I quickly realized I needed something! Newborns poop literally all the time and their skin is so sensitive, it is pretty much inevitable. I so wish I had some Boudreaux’s Butt Paste® to help with my littles sore bum.

100th Post and an Update!

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have realized that I completely missed Remi’s 4 month old picture. Second kid problems, and I right? Seeing as she is 5 months in just 10 days, I really should just do it so I at least have it for memory sake…haha!

I can’t believe this is my 100th post. I feel like I go through phases where I feel like I have found my little corner in this blogging/Internet world, and then I’ll go through phases where, being completely honest, I am just completely lazy. This actually takes a lot of work and time, now a days I either feel brain dead from being so tired, or I literally just don’t have the time of day to sit and drum up some content.

Remi’s Nursery Reveal

Well everyone, here it is! Remi’s room is still a work in progress, and at 4 months old, she still isn’t sleeping in there yet. Oh well! Seeing how Saylor never had a “real” nursery (we were in an apartment), I was excited to give Remi her own cute little space. I love girly, classic things and I think that shows in her room. I also wanted to find pieces that I could use for years, and possibly in other rooms down the road, not just as nursery decor.

Let Love Grow sign from August and April, floral headpiece from Mason & Harlow, moccs from Freshly Picked, crib sheet from Copper Pearl, crib from Wayfair, pouf from Target, and gorgeous wallpaper from Milton & King.

Safe Sleep with Halo

Does anyone else’s kid love to be swaddled? Remi will not sleep without being all wrapped up tight. Otherwise her arms always flail around and she’ll wake herself up, it is pretty funny.  Saylor never liked being swaddled, so I have been on the hunt for the perfect swaddle that keeps Remi tight and that she can’t escape out of!

What I love about this Halo Sleepsack Swaddle is that you can swaddle them 3 different ways. As your baby grows, so does this swaddle. It is a soft, breathable material and comes in super cute patterns. I also love that it zips from the bottom up, so you don’t have to unswaddle them completely for diaper changes! I appreciate that Halo is passionate about Safe Sleep situations, and tries to educate us. Their swaddles are made so our babes don’t need any extra blankets…it really gives me peace of mind that Remi is comfortable, warm enough, and not needing anything extra! We need to do our very best to keep our littles safe, and that can start from where and how they sleep. You can find out more about sleep safety HERE.

Nursing Faves with Bamboobies

I have talked about my love for Bamboobies before, and now that I have been nursing for a month, I’m here to tell you my favorites products and why! I am blessed that nursing has come easy for me, but really great products make it even easier. Since the hospital, I have lived, and I mean lived 24/7, in these nursing tanks. They are soft, so comfortable (not too tight or too loose), and the perfect amount of support. I don’t want to put anything else on.

Their nursing pads are also my favorite. The reusable ones are SO SOFT and “cutesy”, not that it matters, but it helps! And the disposable ones are the perfect size and don’t get all gross after 2 seconds.

Parasol Co Diaper & Wipe Subscriptions

Calling all mama’s! I mean honestly, does anyone that isn’t a mom actually read this? Haha…I’m here to introduce you to your new favorite diapers and wipes. I mean this 100% sincerely. I found Parasol Co on Instagram and their cute patterns caught my eye. Click on the image below to find out more!

Having a monthly subscription for diapers and wipes is pretty genius when you’re a busy mom. Not having to think about one less thing, sign me up. The diaper sizing is spot on and I can honestly say that their wipes are my favorite that I have ever used! And I have used most brands. They aren’t too wet, they are large and don’t rip, and have a light, fresh scent. Click on the image below to get information on their subscriptions 🙂 You can also try it for free!

As Seen On Shark Tank…Tranquilo Mat!

Shark Tank products are just my favorite. Especially baby gear! When I saw the episode with Tranquilo Mat, I knew I had to have it! The Tranquilo Mat is a soothing mat that mimics the sounds and motions of a mother’s womb. So cool and innovative, and USEFUL! There is actual science behind this product, and was invented by a “crying baby” specialist, who saw a need.

Saylor loved to use the mat before her baby sis came, haha.

Remi likes being held and the mat held against her back. It really is soothing and comforting, I wish they came in adult size, haha! I saw on their social media the other day that they are coming out with cute patterned covers (!!!), so be on the look out for those! I highly recommend this mat, especially for our little babes that have trouble adjusting to the outside world!

On The Night You Were Born

As Remi gets close to 2 weeks old, I figured I better sit down and write out her birth story before #mombrain enters full effect. It seems so long ago already, and I can’t believe it has already came and went. I was beyond ready to not be pregnant, and I still can’t believe that I am not anymore! This post is for my own documenting purposes, and I hope that I don’t upset or offend anyone with my story.

So, rewind to about a month ago at my 38 week appointment. I was 3cm dilated and DONE. So uncomfortable, not sleeping, swollen, just ready to have this baby. I asked the midwife casually how long they would let me go over before they would induce me, and she says, “Oh…you have rights you know. Since this isn’t your first baby we can induce you a week early if you would like.” SAY WHAT?! That was music to my ears and just what I wanted to hear. I told her I would talk to my husband and see what he thought, and possibly even pick a day to be induced! What a dream! Lol. So I call Troy and we decide on Thursday, May 25th. That’s a good date. My half birthday, even. So they call me the night before and let me know that I am “on call” (whatever that means) until 10am, and if I don’t hear from them by then to call the hospital. 9:30am rolls around and I get the call! Be here at 10:30! It still didn’t feel real, even as we were walking up to the hospital it didn’t seem real that I was going to have a baby soon.

First Week Favorites

Holy cow I can’t believe it has already been a week since our sweet Remi has joined our family. The days and nights have sort of blurred together, and I’m starting to remember what it is like to function on little to no sleep. But I wouldn’t change her being here for anything! I am so grateful to have had a smooth labor and delivery, and the recovery has been fairly good considering what my body just went through, haha. I’m always hesitant to say I’m doing good, because “good” is a broad term and no one really wants to hear what is going on! One day soon I will sit down and write out my birth story. Until then, here are a few products I have enjoyed using this past week.

First Time Mom?

Being a first time mom, I am constantly scouring the Internet and Instagram for the latest and greatest. I love baby gear, and finding new products or accessories that I can’t live without. (Sorry, Troy!) I am NOT an expert, just a lady who has tried lots of different things and is here to share what you absolutely NEED! I can’t possibly cover everything in one post, so this will be a start.

–Nursing? You need nipple cream and nursing pads (I preferred the reusable kind). Also, a good nursing cover! BONUS, this one can be used 3 ways!
